GPISD CTE ECHS Dress Code

  • Students within the Galena Park Independent School District will adhere to dress code policies. A Standardized Dress Code policy has been adopted by each elementary and middle school campus, with the consent of the Site-Based Decision Making Committee (SBDMC). Traditional dress code will continue for all high school campuses. Contact your campus principal for more information.

    The principal of the school shall have the discretion to determine if a student’s attire, hair, and/or grooming is acceptable and within appropriate health and safety standards. Principals have the authority to set the mode of attire for special occasion days.

    Each student will display appropriate grooming and dress for the educational environment.  Attire or hair styles which are deemed to be a distraction or disturbance to learning are prohibited.

    Students who violate the dress code will be subject to disciplinary action.

    Unacceptable Hair and Grooming
    The principal of the school shall have the discretion to determine if a student’s hair and/or grooming is acceptable and within appropriate health and safety standards. Unacceptable hair and/or grooming examples include: gang related, profane or vulgar language gang symbols cut into hair, or tattooed or cut into the skin. Students are also to avoid inappropriate hair color, e.g., orange, green, purple, etc.

    For Girls
    Dresses (mid-thigh or longer)
    Skirts with tops (mid-thigh or
    longer)
    Pants with tops
    Shoes
    Mid-thigh shorts
    Neat, clean, well fitting clothing

    For Boys
    Pants with tops
    Shoes
    Mid-thigh shorts
    Clean hair
    Hair out of eyes
    Neat, clean, well fitting clothing

    Unacceptable Attire
    Low cut tops
    Tank tops
    Tight knit tops
    Spandex shorts or pants
    Torn, ripped jeans/clothing
    Duster coats/Trench coats
    Tight fitted clothing
    Thongs/Sandals without back straps
    Shirts with written reference to alcohol, sex, vulgar language, or symbols that serve to detract from a conducive learning environment
    Midriff tops
    Bandanas
    Baggy, saggy, or oversized clothing
    Shirts with gang symbols, slogans, or colors
    Slacks/pants/skirts worn below the waist - sagging
    house shoes/slippers
    shoes with wheels

    *San Jacinto College programs may have additional dress code / uniform requirements. Students should see their instructors with any questions.
