October 2024

  • Dear 新加坡六合彩开奖 Community,

October provides an opportunity to support many important causes through events and observances emphasizing celebration, recognition, and awareness. I am excited to share these with you and encourage your active participation and support.

First, October is National Principals' Month. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate our principals, who play a crucial role in shaping our students' educational experiences and success. Please take a moment to express your gratitude to these outstanding leaders in our schools. Their commitment to excellence and unwavering support for students and staff are commendable.

Additionally, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual campaign aims to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. It is also a time to support the more than four million women worldwide who have been affected by breast cancer. During the month of October, we encourage everyone to wear pink and participate in activities promoting breast cancer awareness.

October is also National Bullying Prevention Month, a time to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Bullying can have serious and lasting effects on individuals, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels valued and respected. Throughout this month, we want to empower students to stand against bullying and support their peers. Let us commit to creating a culture of empathy and respect in October and every day of the year. Together, we can make a difference.

Red Ribbon Week, observed from October 21st through 25th, is another significant event this month. The week is dedicated to educating our students about the dangers of drug use and the importance of making healthy, drug-free choices. Campuses have planned various activities and programs to engage our students in meaningful discussions about this critical topic. Let's work together to create a drug-free community and empower our students to lead healthy lives.

Lastly, I encourage all parents and guardians to join the Galena Park Community Council of Parent Teacher Association (GPCC PTA) on your child’s campus. The Galena Park Community Council of PTAs provides information, inspiration, support, and guidance to our member PTAs.  The Council also plays a vital role in fostering a strong partnership between home and school, enhancing the educational experience for our students, and supporting various school activities and events. Your involvement and support in PTA is essential to our schools' success.

As the weather begins to cool down, I hope you enjoy the changing seasons and find time to spend quality moments with family and friends during the upcoming school holiday from October 11th to 15th. Please take time to rest, reflect, and return refreshed and ready for the remainder of the semester.

Thank you for your continuous support and dedication to GPISD…A Great Place to Be.

    Warm regards,

    John Moore, Ed.D.
    Superintendent of Schools
